RUTGERS WILL LOSE AT HOME TO PITTSBURGH ON A CHILLY NIGHT IN CENTRAL JERSEY

The Rutgers football team puts its four-game winning streak on the line tonite when it hosts Pittsburgh in Big East action…the Scarlet Knights’ first league home game since the blowout home loss to Cincinnati in the conference opener on Labor Day.  R-U comes in at 4-1 overall…0-1 in league.  Pitt is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big East.  But forget about Rutgers being on a four-game win streak.  The Knights have been playing an extremely soft schedule since that Cincy debacle.  Pittsburgh, on the other hand, is the second best team on R-U’s schedule to this point…one spot below the A-P Top-25.  Pitt comes in as a three-point favorite and led by veteran quarterback Bill Stull.   He will be too much for the Rutgers defense and certainly will outshine Scarlet Knight true freshman q-b Tom Savage.  So, I pick the Panthers to cover tonite and beat Rutgers 21-17.

I had this as a RU win in preseason but what I have seen of this RU offense is nothing but poop. The defense will be stingy but I’m afraid that RU will give up the long pass and RU’s offense will spudder. Will Schaiano have something up his sleeve that we haven’t seen all year? I would think so if RU wins.

Unfortunately, ESPN games have not been kind to RU lately. Can Schiano get this team ready to play from the get go? We’ll see but I have RU losing this game.

Mr. Savage has a chance to get this offense going tonight–offensive line will see to it…RU takes this home contest by 4 points…28-24.
