Stop me if you’ve heard this story before—the Rutgers basketball team plays tough against a better Big East opponent but falls short at the end. Groundhog Day, if you will. It happened again Sunday afternoon at the RAC when the Scarlet Knights lost to West Virginia 65-54 in a game heard on Good Time Oldies, 1450 WCTC and WCTCAM.com. Guard Mike Coburn led the way with 20 points on his Seniors’ Day at the RAC but it wasn’t enough as the Knights fall to 4-12 in league and 13-15 overall with just two regular season games remaining. And, so it goes for first-year head coach Mike Rice. Tough defense, a competitive mindset but just not enough talent to make the big plays.
